"It all began with my very first visit to Malaysia in 2010, an eye-opening journey that introduced me to the Asian culture, the warmth of its people, and the irresistible flavors of its cuisine. What I discovered was a region where modernity and tradition harmoniously coexist. I was amazed how easy traveling is both in Malaysia and Singapore, the fantastic quality of services, and the convenience of English as a widely spoken language. No wonder that Kuala Lumpur became my second home as I started escorting more and more tour groups from Europe in Southeast Asia. Since then I have been returning year after year, uncovering new dimensions of this captivating part of the world.
Malaysia is an unbelievably diverse and colorful country that is less known in the United States compared to its neighbors like (Thailand and Indonesia. Kite flying is a beloved pastime in Terengganu and Kelantan. These kites or in Malay languages, Wau can be over a meter in diameter. Crafted from thin rice paper and light bamboo frames, they feature intricate designs and are considered art pieces. When flown, they produce a humming sound and are used in competitive matches where kites try to cut each other's strings with a glass-powder coating. The last kite flying wins the contest.
